Guides For Games I Play
Sometimes I write down tips and notes on sticky notes and in my journal while playing games and I always wish I had typed them up when I revisit the game years later. This is my attempt to do that, not all guides will be correct or optimal, they are just what I like playing or the specific build I had on a particular playthrough of something.
sil character build
A guide for character creation and early game strategy in Sil, a roguelike game.
Character Creation:
- Noldor, House of Feanor
- Str +3
- Dex + 6
- Con + 1
- Gra + 3
(or 6331, not sure what other stuff changes though if you do this)
Choose one of the following point allocations:
- 2800 Points into Melee, 1500 Points into Evasion
- OR
- 1500 Points into Melee, 2800 Points into Evasion
Initial Steps:
- Equip Curved Sword that is in the first room you spawn in.
- Open Character Sheet by pressing escape and then (b).
- From this screen, pressing (a)bilities or (i)ncrease skills will allow you to spend experience points.
Skill Progression:
- First skill to get: Charge
- With Charge, equip a very heavy weapon for increased damage
- Alternative to Charge: finesse into zone of control
- After unlocking Charging in the Melee Tree, save up for Dodging and Flanking in the Evasion Tree
- At any point you can also spend exp to get Evasion and Melee to 8 points each
This build should be sufficient for reaching at least 200 feet into the dungeon.
Further Progression:
- Aim for zone of control if you went with Charge
- Continue putting exp into melee and evasion
- Try to reach level 8 in evasion and melee before allocating any skill points

monster hunter sunbreak gunlance builds tu2
A collection of Gunlance builds and notes for Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak, focusing on Title Update 2 and 3.
Today I beat the end of Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak's initial release and am about to grind to get to the new content from Title Update 3. On the way I will probably need to update my current armor set and I am putting notes and possible builds here.
Notes on Title Update 2:
Normal Gunlance / Overall TU2 Build
CaoSlayer video suggests the following build:
- Torci Da Lavater
- Kaiser Crown X
- Lambent Hauberk
- Flaming Espinas Grip
- Lambent Sash
- Flaming Espinas Heel
His build doesn't use weakness exploit due to his combo of amulet and decorations, I will probably mix it up a bit but it seems like a good base.
Wide Poke Shelling Build
- Cornpopper
- Arc Helm
- Onmyo Chest, Hands, Pants, Legs
Title Update 3:
Mixed Armor Set TU3 Caoslayer
- Head: Risen Kushala or Teostra
- Chest: Risen Teostra, Violet Mizu, and ?(maybe nephilim/chaotic? can make it out)
- Arms: Flaming Espinas, Chaotic, Violet Mizu, Risen Kushala
- Belt: Violet Mizu, Risen Teostra
- Legs: Flaming Espinas, Chaotic, Risen Kushala
Speedruns:
Incredible Malzeno Gunlance Speedrun
This person plays in such an interesting way. I really need to try using reverse blast dash like this. Wish I knew what gear he was using though, google translate thinks its this:
- Head: Malzeno Helm
- Torso: Barioth Mail X
- Arm: Rehenoplos Braces X
- Waist: Sailor Skirt
- Feet: Malzeno Greaves
- Absolute Petalace
- Fatal Tempest Talisman Attack Boost 3 - Evade Extender 1 - Critical Boost 1
- Torci Da Lavater Gunlance Slotted with Ani-Aerial Jewel 2 Rampage Slot and Anti-Aerial Species Rampage SKill
- The gunlance is the Pyre RaknaKadaki Gunlance
monster hunter sunbreak tu3 follower tips
Tips and strategies for using followers in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Title Update 3.
Title Update 3 lets you take followers on your quests. After watching the linked video, I am going to use: Luchika with Gunlance and Hinoa with HH.
Notes from comments and video:
- Fast hunt = Hinoa (HH) and Utsushi (HH), gives maximum attack boost all around
- Sustain for those 1 cart Anomaly Quests = Hinoa (HH) + Minoto (Lance or HH)
- Minoto is better at lance than at HH, Hinoa is best with HH
Gunlance:
- Arlow is not as good as Luchika. Luchika does faint a lot on her own since she is so offensive, but if you bring Hinoa with HH it should offset it
Other good picks are Rondine for traps and paralysis CC, Fiorayne with SnS focusing on healing
